PATRICK BLAGBROUGH

Patrick Blagbrough graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2012 with a degree in Fine Art. Alongside his time spent in his Stockport based Studio he works for a day service for grown-ups with learning disabilities, a service he is passionate about.

Patrick is fascinated by shapes and angles, and how all objects are made up of several different geometric shapes and multiple angles, we are surrounded by shapes, both in the natural and the built environment. Inspiration comes from the representation of these ideas in abstract and cubist paintings and he tries to take the 2D painting values and create a new interpretation in 3D.

Movement is also a major influence in his work, through movement our bodys can reveal just as much about ourselves as our faces can. To be able to capture a moment and to freeze it in time, they are formed to give no individuality, no ethnicity or distinction. This is to create a unity of the belief in equality. These instances are moments of exultation or despair and how we show that in our body language.
